RE: Embracing the winter
it's got controls for pitch tone emphasis decay...it has it's own randomizing engine.... it has a very extensive filter section...it has a ton of effects.
i've tweaked and recorded changes live onto cd-recorder but i think it will also automate your changes within a sequencer.
one of it's most engaging features is it's ability to edit/shape groups of sounds such as downbeats or main or 16ths or halfed-upbeats etc.
you can take loops and really tweak them very seriously as you could any rex-file.
again to what extent you can do this and record your every movement into a sequencer i've not explored but you can almost assume it's possible.
one way one could change the characteristics of a beat would be to load two instances of that beat (it is multi-timbral) and adjust them to vary from each other and sequence them as desired.
almost every beat-group comes in 2 to 10 variations...hats no hats combos....just kicks..just snares...weird effects etc.
one of the biggest challenges is to get the thing to sound small.
it just has a huge sound so if that's what you're after....it's quite the gadget.
and tons of fun.
