Bush To Sign America’s Anti-Nightlife R.A.V.E. Act

America’s nightlife industry faces an uncertain future
this weekend, after Congress voted to approve the
puritanical RAVE act, meaning crack house laws will
now be applied to all concerts, clubs and music
festivals in the US.

“Property owners can be punished for any drug offence
that their customers commit - even if they work hard to
stop such offences,” warned the Drug Policy Alliance
just hours before the Bill was passed.

“This is likely to deter nightclub and stadium owners
from holding events.”

“Every musical style will be affected, including rock and
roll, Hip Hop, country and electronic music,” they
added.

The bill was passed after Senator Joe Biden sneaked it
into an unrelated Child Abduction Prevention Act,
which allowed the RAVE act to become law without any
hearings, debates or even specific votes being taken by
Congress. Its incredibly draconian terms mean that if
just one person is caught smoking a joint at a public
gathering such as a club, party or concert, the
organisers and property owners can be jailed for 20
years.

I have written my letters, but I highly doubt the courts will uphold the legality of this legislation. We shall see, I suppose.

but how long will it take them to get it?

it will take a big promoter to get it into the courts at all unless the ACLU takes it seriously... But not to worry, the Supreme Court could send the entire Amber Alert bill back to congress any way. William Reihnquist wrote an open letter to the assembly suggesting that the bill was WAY to restricting of federal judge's discretionary powers.

Of course, the entire party/club/event scene could be burried for a while. But let's face it, underground warehouse style events have always been more fun! hehehe...

Saw Pongoid at a place in San Francisco that handled the issue quite nicely... called it a private party, asked for doantions, and refused to allow the police on the property.

working around the bullshit is a good promoters greatest skill. This shit won't hurt most of us... and hell, maybe it'll put an end to BIG BUDGET glossy fliers, and glowstick sporting rich suburban kids who have to leave at 1:00 AM!

Didn't the Nazi's also use the Eagle as their national Emblem?

Not having a go here, but Bush's America is becoming very, very weird.

"which allowed the RAVE act to become law without any hearings, debates or even specific votes being taken by Congress"

I mean S-H-I-T!!! That is bloody scary! Man, we really, really, really need to do something about these damned God-fearing nut cases who are fighting some bizarre imagined religious crusade in our supposed names! I almost feel sick.

Influx, Yeah, if it's a "private" party (meaning no door fee, no retail sales...) and the entrance is fenced (meaning the door to the club is behind the main entrance to the property than you simply lock the main entrance and tell them it's a private gathering... they need a warrant to enter the property (if the gate is locked)... we've done similar things at outdoor events on gated land. And it worked quite nicely for those 5Flowershop kids at Pongoid's show!

hey, Steve... Are you an American?

Yeah, not sure of Poli-Sci in other countries, but in the US we have (and have always had) this brilliant thing calle dthe trailer bill. It's when special interests want to get a law passed, they tack it on to popular bills (that would make politicians look bad if they voted no on) and then the whole gets passed as law! It's a sham, and a bitch! And downright undemocratic.

And it's what they've done here!

Thats the law u need to address.. tacking unrelated measures onto bills... thats just weird..

meanwhile here in the uk, they have virtually stopped arresting people for possession of pot.. and the police are very grateful.. it just wastes their time.. and they can concentrate on important stuff like robbery, burglary, murder etc etc

Yo I was the one who locked the gate at that party! Hee
hee...stoned out of my mind tho, barely got it to click in
time, whew.

Another thing at that particular party was that
5lowershop's lease on that space is on the level...I
believe they had to show it to the cops. But the cops did
not/could not physically come in, so they left after 20
minutes.

hey but wait a sec- the UK's got that whole 'repetitive

greener...

The key difference here though Zazza, and the issue that needs to be addressed the most, is that while both the UK and the US have some completely screwed laws, the UK has a far more secular government. So much in the US government is done in the name of God. No need to point out that this is a big mistake! If you do a search for this Joe Biden on Google, I'm sure you'll see what I mean. I think the last time the UK government performed any action because of religious beliefs, was when they killed King... erm.. can't remember his name, in the mid-17th century. It was realised how rediculous and dangerous such an act is and so stopped it.

The point being that we need to abolish the idea of the 'God-given-right' in any modern society. God should not be involved in any governing of any country whatsoever. God just gives those in power the right to do whatever they want without any logical reason. Just look what heppened when the US was about to join the Race-Relations Treaty in 1999, which would have helped put a stop to the Palestinian/Isreali crisis.

Regards.

Steve.

"look at Russia, Iraq,"

Well, Iraq was/is a dictatorship, but I know what you mean. There are other factors at play here. Though, on the subject of Dictatorships, it is even starting to seem like Bush's Government is attempting to become a world dictatorship.

Oohhh. It's all to freaky for me atm. I'm gonna go hide somewhere

Oh boy politrix.Bushka.The rave law rides the
coat tails of Amber Alert bill? That's fuxd up.Ok
everybody cross your fingers and hope we
spread more war around the middle
east..Then maybe all the gung-ho right wing
types will get chewed up in a middle eastern
meat grinder.Yep Bush has firm grip on
America.Isn't Reaganomix III a barrel of fun.I
saw Ollie North on Fux news "reporting" illicit
Jordanian arms transfers to Iraq.Talk about
irony. So let's see we want to go after
Syria,Iran,Jordain?,Yemen,Saudis,Indonesia,
Phillipines,Columbia,Paki-Afghan border
regions,Panski Gorge area of
Georgia,Sudan,N Korea,And Get involved in
the Palastenian/Israeli conflict.If George Bush
is re-elected i'm sure we won't go until 2008
w/o massive civil unrest in the US.But that's ok
cause our armed forces are trained for civil
unrest. You don't think the modern architects
of our contemporary government would have it
any other way.Do you?

God damn! Notice most of the Countries that the US is targetting, save of course North Korea and Iraq etc, are Countries that have helped the Palestinians!?!? Jesus! Its Leviticus all over again! What on earth can be done about these god-damned Jewish/Isreali f*@!ers who are intent on acting out the lectures of Moses? I mean the man may never have even existed! And I am pretty sure Yahweh (am I going to die for writing the name :P ) never existed. The Jewish religion is a damned nasty one and something needs to be done to stop this now that the Isrealites seemingly have complete control of the US Government and its Armed forces.

This is actually getting pretty damned scary.

Oh great! I bet these weapons are now going to do a full circuit of the Arab/Muslim countries in the Middle-East. With the US and the UK in persuit leaving a trail of destroyed governments and religions.

What is especially amusing is that a refusal to confess and give back the imaginary wmd will be due cause for invasion..

The recently surrendered Iraqi Scientific advisor said that Iraq had no more wmd's..

Luckily the CIA said "He will probably change his tune once he realises he is 'free'"

"You are one sad f**k m8. I can't believe you spout that shite on these forums."

Haha! Ahem! Sorry. Don't mean to offend you, but go and read! Have you ever read the Bible? Do you not follow the news? Maybe if you did, you would realise that this is not an attack on anyone who is Jewish simply because they are Jewish, rather an attack on the massive Right-wing Jewish institutions, both Zionist (mainly Israel) and Evangelical (mainly US), who are currently responsible for a hell of a lot of attrocities, such as the severely sick treatment of the Palestinians, who's homeland they are invading, the equally severe treatment of may Arabs who are trying to help the Palestinians, and the use of their power within the US government to influence military actions throughout the middle-east.

Without doing a complete trawl of the net, here are a few links to get you up to date:

In fact, just type the following (including quotes) into Google:

"Israel" "Palestine" "US Government"

And please start reading the broadsheets.

I wouldn't say all religions Z. It's primarily the Judaist religions. Hinduism, Buddhism, Shamanistic and Pantheistic (American Indian etc) religions are, despite the extremists, generally peaceful religions and are not dogmatic. At the moment, however, it is the Zionist Jewish religion that is most harmful, and really needs to be controlled. Over the years, it has developed into the most racist and genocidal religion on the planet. And, unfortunately, is receiving alot of backing from other fundamentalist and orthodox Jewish sects. There are, thankfully, many Jews, even within the orthodox religions, that are in complete agreement with this.

Regards.

it's real easy to misinterpret what you wrote, steve. but religion really has little to do with it IMO. it's just a regular old war over land and resources. those zionist and evangelical types are in bed with whoever will join their project of self-aggrandizement. jews vote and have a strategically valuable 'homeland', hence US interest. religions are ideologies and ideology is a way of distracting people from the real question of who holds power and how it is wielded. (ok yeah some rituals and plenty of religious individuals are nice but that's not the point here.)

buddhists and hindus are no better e.g. imperial japan, ongoing india/pakistan conflict.

"jews vote and have a strategically valuable 'homeland', hence US interest"

It is not just international strategy that has caused the US to be so biased here. For example, shortly before 9/11 the US was about to step in and help put an end to the Palestine/Israel conflict, before nearly 10,000 Evangelical Jewish US citizens wrote in and told them to stop, which they did. IMO, this may even have been the action that resulted in 9/11.

I am also aware that nearly every religion on the planet has been responsible for many wars and attrocities, but I am talking about what is happening at this point in time. Imperial Japans religious policies were terrible, especially when it invaded China, but it hardly exists any more. The Jewish religion has been a very pleasant and peaceful religion in the past, but it is currently behaving in a very disgusting manner.

My head hurts! Why do I even start?

I'm gonna stop this and go have a beer

Regards.

Steve.

I dont believe in any religion. I think its a comfort blanket for people who are too scared of death and need to believe in an afterlife. Its for people who cant take responsibility for their own life and need religion to lead them. Its for people who dont have a life and feel they need to be a part of something special. Weak willed people, stupid people, bible bashing sandal wearing beardy people who ring your doorbell when your on the shitter. So you bunny hop down stairs with your trousers round your ankles only to open the door to be pestered by some religous bastard. By the time you get upstairs your arse has dried out and you need to use wet toilet paper to wipe it off.

People can believe in anything they want, but if it gets me off the shitter, or anyone else for that matter, then its not a good thing.

Politicians in the US will do only what is in the interest of the people who fund their campaigns... As long as that motivation exists, US legislation and foreign policy will be made to benefit corporations, big money investors, and special interest groups.

I remember my semester in a US College.... if the cops busted a house party... everyone jumped out the window and the owner was fined multiplied with the est. number of patrons. Isn't all this just the upgraded version of that law?

No, it isn't.. Because the promoters aren't providing alcohol or drugs to their patrons. What this law says is that if somebody goes to the fucking opera, and they happen to somehow bust somebody with a joint, the people who own the opera house, and the people who promoted the opera can all be punished.

Of course this won't get applied to opera houses...

What not? I imagine, with the amount of drugs it takes me before I'll even consider watching/listening to that stuff, Opera houses would be filled with a veritable shipment of drugs :P

Regards.

Steve.

I can just picture pie eating tenor Luciano Pavrotti giving Domingo blow backs in the wings of the Royal Opera House. He may have a great voice, but if that Pavrotti came over to my house, opened up my fridge and starting eating all my pies I'd say OI PAVROTTI.. NO.
