Ok,so I finally found an equal to throw down
some DnB/Jungle/2-Step.We want to do a live
joint using our own dubplates.Thing I want to
know is how many good plays is an acetate
good for?Moderate manipulation will be
expected. My boy just got a proper lathe and
he's close so I want to have our remixes and
originals as a big part of our set.I'm just not
sure if dubz are gonna hold up.We can cut a
couple for each show so will they work? Also
I'm guessing they get quieter and noisier as
they wear down so what dB should they be cut
at for max life?thanks.

Henry

acetates can and do last for years, there was an interview with jon digweed the other month and he's had acetates that he's been playing for a couple of years. i've also heard the number 30 being touted for average playing times.

yeah 20-30 plays on the old acetate, but mebbe they use a harder plastic nowadays, but a normal acetate is 30 plays or so tops before degredation starts to be audibly noticeable.

So we can produce some tracks for a live PA
w/o needing to drag along the
smaplers?Word to the dirty bird.I don't know I
hit it off real well w/ a DnB DJ that isn't a
complete whack ass US DnB rules kind of
dork.I kicked some of my old reggae flavor on
some basslines and tongue twisted/toasted
for him and all of a sudden he recruited me to
be his second MC and co producer. So I've
wanted to do some DnB proper for a while
and now somehow in NC I found a true to the
underground MF.It's nice to meet another DnB
cat that doesn't want to rehash Amen w/
recycle or use ACID"pro"Plus the fact that he
has a four room venue at his disposal w/
projector and screen in a real ruffneck vibe city
makes it all the more fun.His girlfriend wants
to book Dieselboy and Goldie.I had to cast my
vote for Mampi Swift,Drumsound and Simon
Bassline Smith w/ MC Det .They
accomplished the references part of yes we
pay when you play.So I figure a few more
Bassbins,a nice Laser,some 2 Step in one
room,some electro/breaks in another ,and
some various in the last room and we might
have something.he has investors that want to
make a go of it.They also want to start their
own label for him and he pretty much pulled
me willingly into the fray.I think i'm a lil more
excited about the possibilities in my own
backyard as far as the $ for rent and food is
concerned.Fuck it i've got all the gear i'll ever
need,my boy has the lathe,so what else do we
need other than some priceline/travelocity
tickets to get some true cats over here. The
place is freakin huge. The fire code capacity is
4000.That's a nice space.No cops either.I
haven't given up on my other oppurtunity but
considering i'm sample free in my electro i
may just put the contract mess on the shelf
since this is alot more DIY.And you know me
and that damn punk rock DIY mentality i've
got.Not saying that labels are bad and all but
being a product isn't as appealing to me as
just throwin down and having fun. That's what
it's all about anyway. Now I just have to get
them on the we have to get UK talent over
here tip and it'll be all good.I'm sorry but i
came up in the hardcore breaks to DnB as it
was happening and most of the domestic US
DnB is pretty whack. It's lost it's edge to the
almighty weird trancy/housey/yanni sound.I
like it on the party/sinister w/ a touch of the ol
jump up tip. Most cats over here sound like a
demo for a VA synth. Not the my Akai is
bleeding and my DJ is working the sound
system tip. Most of our MCs suck a big fat
gangster lollipop.Like I told my
homeboy, these gangster MCs piss me off
cause I'm a reformed thug and i'm not spitting
out gat/ho/range rover dribble. But leave it to
the good ol USSA to turn everything into a spot
for cars/guns/and a dis fest.Boring!

H - It's nice to know the plates will last a
bit.thanks.I guess I could have gone to bed
but I was waiting on an answer to this
question,you know how those burning
questions go.Big Upz.

We'll be videoing the live PA sometime in
December. My boy with the lathe swears it'll be
up and running in 2 more weeks.he had to
have the amp refurbed and it's in NYC.As far
as the DnB scene in NC goes it's real
spotty.Kind of why it took me 5 yrs to find
some more peeps.But don't worry you'll hear
it.That's for sure.laterz.

But of course.I'll also be doing my live
PA(techno/breaks/electro) in one of the other
rooms. So it should be almost like working
that night.
