This song, like many songs, was born out of an emotional moment. I, like many other Christians, found myself stuck in a rut with the same sin I’d been warring with for many years. In a frustrated attempt to physically harm my guitar, an actual progression was formed out of the anger I held towards myself, and amazingly, God used it to make a song with one of the greatest messages a struggling Christian can ever hear: it does not matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been; Jesus Christ loves you and will “always be with you.”

This song was originally written for a friend of mine, but later, I realized that it was indeed a cry from Christ to us, His children, to fully rely on and trust in Him. It turned out to be a more of a reminder of His undying longing for relationship with me than a nice thought for any earthly relationship I could involve myself in here.

This song was a project at first that my father had given me to complete for a youth summer camp. He wanted the song to be about spending time with God that was away from the world, allowing total concentration on the words of the Almighty as He spoke to His children. It seemed fitting to go along with a theme commonly found in the New Testament: God’s still, soft voice. In all actuality, in order to hear something “still and soft” one must put away all other things that make noise that is louder than that voice. After I began writing, I found that I was indeed the one for whom the song was written, though everyone who hears it will most likely feel the presence of God near to them. It’s okay to cry; it’s okay to weep and be afraid; because it is in these times that God’s still soft voice speaks comfort and peace into us, and we can finally fall asleep and rest in the arms of our Father.

Who doesn’t love Christmas? It is my favorite time of year, and if you’re like me at all, you’ll understand why I love tacky front yards full of lawn ornaments that glow, moveable reindeer heads, and colored lights. I mean I go all out for Christmas. Cookies in the living room, lit up trees, stockings, apples on the porch (reindeer love apples!), dim lights and a Christmas movie (The Santa Clause or How the Grinch Stole Christmas—Jim Carrey style, of course). All of these things constitute the holiday season for me and my family. However, sometimes, if not most times, we get so caught up in the hubbub of the seasonal “necessities” (shopping sprees, jingle bells, Christmas trees) that we forget the real meaning of this time of year. Although I love Santa Clause and the excitement that children acquire when Christmas Eve rolls around, he is not why I celebrate this time of love. My Savior Jesus Christ was born on Earth and so began the road to my salvation, indeed, the salvation of the entire world. THIS is the real reason for Christmas. May we always remember it and share the love He gave us on this most joyous of all occasions with everyone we meet. Merry Christmas! (in advance, of course)

This is a great Christmas song, and we thought it might be cool to rock it up a little. We hope you enjoy it, and download it, too!

Even though the title suggests that an unknown well-wisher is hoping for "merriment" for whomever he/she speaks to, we thought this haunting rendition of the classic song would add a little variety to our album, as well as others' Christmas spirits. Enjoy!
