| Who doesn’t love Christmas? It is my favorite time of year, and if you’re like me at all, you’ll understand why I love tacky front yards full of lawn ornaments that glow, moveable reindeer heads, and colored lights. I mean I go all out for Christmas. Cookies in the living room, lit up trees, stockings, apples on the porch (reindeer love apples!), dim lights and a Christmas movie (The Santa Clause or How the Grinch Stole Christmas—Jim Carrey style, of course). All of these things constitute the holiday season for me and my family. However, sometimes, if not most times, we get so caught up in the hubbub of the seasonal “necessities” (shopping sprees, jingle bells, Christmas trees) that we forget the real meaning of this time of year. Although I love Santa Clause and the excitement that children acquire when Christmas Eve rolls around, he is not why I celebrate this time of love. My Savior Jesus Christ was born on Earth and so began the road to my salvation, indeed, the salvation of the entire world. THIS is the real reason for Christmas. May we always remember it and share the love He gave us on this most joyous of all occasions with everyone we meet. Merry Christmas! (in advance, of course)
