the art of burping
when i was about 12 years old i learned how to burp on command. it's a matter of sucking air
into your esophagus and pushing it out with your abdominal muscles. we're talking amazing
stuff here. if you suck enough air in...and it sometimes takes 2 or 3 air sucks....you can speak
sentences as you burp. someday i expect this to be an official Olympic competition. i think it's
come down to a decision as to whether it should be a summer or winter Olympic event but
that's out of my hands. now this was a great moment. my first wife and i were visiting my
mother who lives in an apartment when i let a loud burp sentence go. i even remember it. was a
jazz thing...bee boppity boo bop a bing bing boo yeeeeaaaaahhhh....all on one burp. my mom
got upset and asked "what will people think about the kinds of guests i have over". my answer
was "don't worry mom. nobody knows you have guests". i do have my brilliant moments.
