U.S. quote of the week
I'm not sure to whom this quote, a reference to 2 government bailouts, is attributed. The first
bailout was for roughly a trillion dollars total to the banking industry and did not require heads
of banks to make any concessions in their personal compensations. The second bailout was
roughly a couple of billion dollars to the auto industry that requires the workers to take
pay/benefit cuts.
"Washington will bailout out those who shower before work but not those who shower
afterwards."
I thought that was a brilliant way of encapsulating the war on workers that has been waged in
the U.S. for the last decade.
