I had to have my dog put down 8/21 due to systemic cancer. I had no idea he was sick, let alone on the verge of death. Had spread everywhere basically, and had ruptured his intestines. Internal bleeding. Really had no idea. Im still reeling, not dealing with it well.

he deserves a tribute. Best dog I have EVER known. Im sorry for my mistakes, Avy. I hope you were happy.

awww, sorry to hear that Influx man... sometimes people can't understand how much one loves a pet. I lreally ove my cat, like REAL proper love, he's just so damned cool, has so much character and is such a funny personality and I'd be so upset when he goes, much more than many people i know, even if he lives years and passes away from natural causes as an old boy.

make a nice burial I spose is all you can do now *sniff*

Yeah, pets can become equal family-members imo and the loss can be just as great. It's an even darker day if you have to bring them to the vet for the last time as described. Sorry to hear influx.

sorry for you man, he seemed highly hugable. I used to have naps with my moms labrador.dogs are so nice. I'd love to have one, but in a small apartment in the city, i find it would be cruel.

Looked like a happy old codger to me.

They just don't complain do they? We'd be whinging straight away - they just seem to put up with it (whatever it is)

My cat has been walking sideways for the last year (backend at least)... keeps falling over... very sad. Furry Ed is 19yrs old so I suppose she'll be kicking the proverbial cat flap soon. Always the worry that she's in pain. Feeding her on special biscuits and some powder from the vet. Dodgy kidneys appaerently - paying the price for her wild youth I s'pose.

kidneys is a bad one and quite common for cats. I have a mate who spent about 3 grand on vet fee's for her mog... young big healthy cat, but dodgy kidneys

thanks all.

not actually sure how old he was...11 or 12ish, max. not old enough.

cancer is fucking terrifying. This...just shouldnt have happened. Guess it'll be a while, maybe never, before I get over it. Now all I can think about is ME going through what HE did, although I dont think humans fall victim to Canine Hemangiosarcoma.

I hate you Hemangiosarcoma. heh.

Sorry for your loss, Influx.... I just got a kitten and have been... um, smitten... I've also lost pets in the past and it sucks.

But I have to argue with "just shouldnt have happened"... imho that's just a little selfish on the grand scale of things. I mean, of course it should have happened... it did!

Everything's a lesson with beauty to be experienced....blah blah blah... have a beer and try to be philosophical about it. Rub your chin while you do it and make "a-HA!" faces.

my cat of, 13 years died about two weeks ago. Died of massive spread of lymphoma. Held the cat in my arms to it's death. I did some hard drinking after that. Just makes you appreciate being alive and to experience family, friends, and the ones we see everyday, our pets.

I buried her in a white blanket. too damn innocent to die like that.

sorry for the loss man.

since my dog died, my ex's family dog has developed cancer, and both my friends cats are going. I guess watching the best thing that ever happened to you die makes you more aware of death

sadly, it hasnt helped me appreciate ANYTHING, as is usually stated. I hate life more than I did before, and I realize the sickness of such a thing, but I find it hard to shake.

I dont "want to die" but...literally nothing works out for me in this life, so I dont see the point much lately.

really sorry about your cat, man. Cancer...it just shouldnt be this bad. We're so fucked up across the board!

take it easy influx. a relative of mine has been told to cancel this christmas and every one after because of the 'big c'. she's incredibly forward-looking and positive.

i don't know how some people do that, then again i'm an eternal pessimist of sorts.

"I hate life more than I did before"

Well, life's a bitch, but time is running out, ffs everyone's time is limited, so make good use of it. Don't care about if you appreciate it more or not, hate it or not, just try to get the best out of it.

Hatred is good, it shows that you're not tired yet.
