hi all,

im looking for recommendations on a decent piano mulitisample sample cd.

i already have some nice classic pianos...i have the miroslav collection plus a cd called modified pianos....and whilst the miroslav is great for that grand or classical sound im after a nice set which can be used in House music (i dont want that 80's italio sound- otherwise would buy me uncles M1) and other styles....basically im after the sort of piano peeps like the house of 909 use or the sort of sounds you find in stuff by subliminal etc....its definitly not exclusive to house music but im trying to make sure you know the type of piano im after....

they are full sounding but dont really sound classical in anyway...i hope you know the sort of sound i mean....i was looking at the zimmer collection but reckon they will again be more suited to classical styles....

btw i dont use software......

cheers

greg

ps- i can post an mp3 if need be

pps- am after a decent rhodes set too- was a bit dissapointed with the akai vintage keys i got recently....

no replies so far - did you try a D50 piano set? (the classic house piano sound , used to be anyways)... perhaps you can borrow and sample a D50 or the module version (can't remember what it was called) ?

Try an Alesis QS-series. Lots of somewhat realistic slightly cheesy pianos that might work for you. See if you can find a Nanopiano online.

I could sample the Kurz piano for ya when I have time - or perhaps the e-max piano set... very upfront.

wont have time till next week tho I'm afraid

aha! - finaly got round to it - it works for no-decay house style piano - in that respect ti has that cheezy old-skool piano house sound - i just tried it out by importing the samples to KONTAKT and setting it up - do you have KONTAKT?

otherwise you'll have to map & loop 'em yourself - I'll just render the little old-skool demo i made with it to test - hang on.......

emax_piano_old_skool.mp3

that's what it sounds like without any messing (except for reverb & delay) - this was played from the KONTAKT set i made, so it's already got quite heavey compression on it - if you have KONTAKT, i've included the .NKI set for it in the zip file.

btw - it wont work for susutained piano sounds, this is purely for fast decay piano old-skool riff-age

it's in the FILES section - just name search for 'piano'

yeah, well the originals were 12 bit, and the sample loop positions didnt seem to translate to 16 bit recordings made via the emax outs, so they wont loop well for sustaining, but for riff-age they are fine with short decay
