Ok,first dave SR. this is one of those "jesus

that i'm a psychotic(not homicidal or

experiencing bad vibes and am not really
communicating w/ the world(cept nizzow),only
falling into a regressive/self destructive
hermetic(not sealed yet fairly sealed off from
capitalist reality/surrealism.All this
retrospection is the result of a bad motobike/
collarbone crash.I'm fine but my bike is in

recharge of the strategic nature.First I want to
apologize about my gearwhore supreme/
nanny nanny bo boo attitude.DT nujax, this
post is kind of funked like me,so disregard
transmission.Ok so i've got video pro gear
and it has to be replaced by Arri-IIBV 35MM
(old nazi camera Kubrick used for most of A
Clockwork Orange).I fell for the digital cinema
propaganda machine hard.This camera is
inexpensive,uses short endz(cheal) rolls of
film.But As we all know in the USSA LA is the
place to be if you hate the cold and need the
infrastucture to take serious stab at
filmmaking.I want to use mt music as a
integrated component in my vision of truth.So
LA is an expensive place,seen.How can I find
roomiez that sre non theftish,and aren't going
to be such 8upz that they allow me to join in to
brain cell distractions.My budget is reliable
$650 a month,am willing to live w/ up to 4-6
other humanoidz. Gear security and a non
lease signed yet understood and honored are
my only perversions of the typical lease/
roommate technique.Anybody got space for
cash?later.

There is a theory that if one is an artist wanting to break into film one stays away from LA. If one is a technician, one moves to LA ASAP. The problem seems to be that everyone in LA wants to direct, write, etc. If you're a techie, not a "director" disguised as a techie, then the majority of the work is in LA. One's job as a technician , by it's nature, has certain standard rules which are followed time and time again. As an "artist", LA is a very rigid environment that is still very old school. Most indie films seem to be made ouside of LA. Maybe Akron, OH? You're not gonna make a lot of friends in the production sound department with that camera, by the way.

If your desire is to become a camera operator then move to LA and get a job in a camera rental house. Use the camera and mags that you have to learn about loading film and doing basic maintainance and repairs, i.e., take the Arri apart and put it back together over and over. Good luck in whatever you do, its a tough road but its pretty rewarding.
