RE: easy SCSI solution
Here's the link:
http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/product/prodtechindex.html?sess=no&cat=/Technology/USB&source=menu
There's 2 models USBxchange and USB2xchange, USB2xchange supports SCSI2 but like 99devils
says the bottleneck will be the USB side:
=====================================
# Maximum data speed: up to1.5MB/sec
# Sustained data speed: up to 700KB/sec
=====================================
(from www.adaptec.com)
Also with win98 it supports 7 SCSI devices
but with win2000 only 2, though there's
supposed to be a software update for this soon.
Prices are $69 for USBxchange $79 for USB2xchange.
I got USBxchange, my PC runs win98 and I was able
to get a PC->Zip drive->A3000 SCSI chain going
quite easily, but I guess it depends on what
gear and OS you have. Perhaps I was just lucky...
But it's cool, I can upload samples directly from soundforge without having to go through the audio ins on the sampler... and I don't need to enter
the sample name with knobs...plus I can archive
sample banks on PC with A3kdisky (and burn them
to CD). oh yes
