especially since it's mostly musicians that have redeye all the time.

It's interesting, scary, might be a good thing. If the industry morons take tunes by Brittany, Cher, and songs like The Hampster Dance to analyze and pump out more of the same...I have a feeling that's what's gonna happen with it. If they knew any better or had better intentions they could use it to expand maybe. But it's that old saying, garbage in, garbage out. It could make the industry better but probably the people in charge are gonna go with the formulas that work. Look at rock and roll in the US. People still eat Springsteen up. In the end most listeners will eat whatever they're fed 50 times a day on the radio. Doesn't matter what it is.

Ever read Douglas Adams' Dirk Gentley's Holistic Detective Agancy per chance? It features a robot monk from the furture, which was programmed to beleive in things and watch TV for us, so that we have more time to do other things. It gets confused after watching 10 different religious programs at once and is then convinced that the world is pink.

I can think of no better proof than this, proof that the music industry is in it's final death throes, scrambling for answers from any snake oil salesman that has a pitch regardless of how patently stoopid it is. I was worried there for a bit, I thought they might actually be able to continue the status quo for another fifty years but it's sooo close to being over. These really are exciting times. We are witnessing the fall of corporate leviathans, while musicians and audiences reclaim their proper place in the food chain.

In China, there is so much piracy that artists cannot even GET a conventional recording contract anymore. You just buy your copied cd's from the local market stalls.

The labels sign them up to a management contract and get a percentage of sponsorship, personal appearances, merchandise etc.. and that is it..

According to the guys in China and the Far East, this is what is coming to the west sooner or later.. and this is why the record labels are freaking out..

Just think... artists that get paid only for playing gigs etc... no super-rich lifestyles for Britney, Elton John etc.. heh
