naw.... two reasons this forum is empty..

1) their stuff is rock solid and needs no explaining

2) its so expensive no one bothers to buy them :-)

whats the diff between nord 1,2, and 3? I've played on 3 before and it just belts out sound for not having and on-board effects processor. I LOVE the knob system on it though...the little lights kick ass =) Do 1 and 2 sound somewhat similar?

The differnces between 1 and 2 aren't that great. You get 4 more voices on the 2, and filter saturation. You also get a sine osc type, and more LFO and mod envelope destinations. Also 2 more outputs (one per part).

The NL3 is a totally different beast. It's an analog implementation of an FM synth, basically. It includes seperate sync oscillators per main osc, I believe a sub-osc, effects, and those trippy lighted knobs. It doesn't sound all that much like the NL1/2.

-Craig

PS - I've seen NL2 racks for $899. That's not expensive. The only shit that's crazy priced is the stuff you can't get from any ofther synth - the Modular and the NL3.

I use the N-rack 1 fully expanded...the synth that I have kept the longest and probably will never get rid of...

The Nord III has internal effects.

I use a Sony DPS-V55 for effects live, and use plug-ins in the studio, or the efects in my 01V.

Good ones on a budget? I'd say the TC M-One.

The tc-electronic M300 is cheaper then M-one
I use that one and it is really great sounding but not much controll (slimed down version of M-one controll, but the same sound)

I just bought my NL2 for $500 (u.s), Mint Condition and rarely ever used.

It has been in my friends studio for years, and the only time it was ever played was by me, b/c I would drool at the thing everytime I visited.

He finally said to me "You know...You've used this more than I ever have...if you want it, make me an offer..." so I emptied the cash in my wallet, and ran home as fast as I could.
