i played my frist live show in seattle on new
years. all breakbeat set and dj smile
accompanied with scratching. all in all it was a
success and well received. the venue, emp, is
the coolest place i've seen to play a show.
right next to the space needle in downtown.
amazing building designed by frank gehry.
400 people in the bar i played and a good
portion of them dancing. that was the coolest
thing to see i think. people reacting to the
parts that you really want them to. also, i went
on right after 12am so people were definitely
into party mode.
had a few technical problems but none too
major. my laptop crashed right when i
pressed play on the first track but luckily once
it rebooted it was fine. goofed a few things
with my mixer which resulted in a loud
feedback for a few seconds. couldn't hear
some things i was playing on my virus
because dj smile's monitor was blaring the
scratching and right behind me.
learned A LOT though. the whole experience
was a trip. prepping for it, writing the tracks,
actually hearing the set on a bigger system,
the stage monitors, etc... i did get a dat of it but
haven't heard what it sounds like.
so, i must thank everyone here for all the help
over the years. i've gotten loads of advice and
that was one of the major reasons i finally got
my shit together and without too many
problems. kilo, influx and pongoid especially.
looking forward to 2003!
