ok. well. when i add effect one of the nine parts; then i selet a new part, the new part
includes that same effect. if i turn off the effect, i lose it for the previos part. this happens even after i write to the pattern. do i need to always right to a new sample? i only have
99 and i've used most of them importing a complete acoustic kit. any thought?

The ES-1 can only do 1 effect at once, if you want to do multiple ones, you gotta resample with effects...
if you got the 99 mono ones filled, just resample into the 50 stereo slots.

what a lame statement from someone who obviously has not explored the capabilities of this box

probably uses presets, too

i have the ea1, the er1, and the es1.

i got them because i wanted to use them in live situations. for this they are excellent as long as you stay in the 4/4 vibe.

out of the three, i get a lot more mileage out of the es1, as the synth engines in the other two are kind of limited for the sounds i am looking for.

just wish they had something like the "last step" feature like on the roland TR series.

yeah i agree that the es-1 has a nice character to it, kinda sp-12 reminescent....you can do some tight high hat work with the one-sample-cuts-off-the-other feature....and for that nasty cyber be-bop feel, the onboard compressor sounds really gritty when aplied to a cymbal heavy break. Actaully, the es-1 can sound downright filthy in the right hands! i hate people with no skills that diss on useful shit.

The ES-1 is tight...for me it just stimulates me to do creative shit that I've never thought before. My friend and I did a rocking show with just two ES-1s...the effects are great, and you can resample nearly anything you do.

The beatslicer is great if you use it on non beat type sounds, like vocal samples...you can get some pretty crazy loops on top of your beats that way.

The delay is really damn tight if you learn to use it...

For an example check out

We did that whole song on two ES-1s...all live, too.

I think it'll be an classic for electro heads...you hear it all over two lone swordsmen's live mixes...
