easy stuff, but I'm stumped....

for some reason, the "midi tx" does not seem work to save the settings on my virus. I've followed the very simple instructions:

1) press record on sequencer (cubase)
2) and select midi tx global on the virus.

(tried with midi channel set to "any" and to 5,6,7 etc.)

when the virus says "done" and I hit stop on cubase, there is no midi date visible in cubase, and my settings are not recalled if I make changes to the patches and come back to the song.

I'm on OS 2.52 or something. I wanna get the new OS but can't upgrade until I save some patches.
thanks in advance.

Usually the sysex filter is active in Cubase as default.
Check if Options/Midi/Filter all boxes are unchecked.

that had to be it. You gotta set cubase to record sysex.

got it?

more dumbery:

1) is it ok to loop 1 measure while the virus dumps its data? or does the midi file need to be as long as the dump takes? ewww.

2) if I have three songs that use modified versions of the same patch on my virus, which "dump" parameter just saves the current settings of the patch, not the patch as it is saved in the virus' memory?

3) are there different saving protocols for different genres? NO! not that dumbery!

I should have asked these questions a long time ago.

1) - no. it's gotta be long enough to save the data sequentially.

2) Don't know, but I'll see if I can figure it out today when I've got the box in front of me.
