Sampling Quality
I have tried the following 2 approaches but I'm still not sure.
What do you think will give me the best quality when sampling loops of records.
1. Plugging the deck mixer into my akai 3000 then exporting the loops into my PC via SCSI.
or
2. Plugging the deck mixer straight into my Terratec soundcard and sampling in Logic Audio.
Do you think because the Terratec soundcard is a much newer piece of kit, that the A/D convertors are better?
Or because the akai 3000 is designed for sampling it is going to be better?
I mean I can get a much hotter signal going into the 3000 then I can Logic, about 7-8 db hotter. But because I have to go into the sampler then via SCSI into the PC, maybe I am losing some quality.
What do you guys think is the best way. As I said, I have tried both approaches but I'm still unsure.
