whenever i try and put my a3k into disk mode it refuses to go beyond the ticking clock thing. Same if i try and save samples by hitting the command key. Any ideas why it might be freezing up like this?
thank

what disk are you trying to use, internal? maybe the scsi's gone west? disconnect the scsi and see if the a3k can access the floppy.

okay - i really think my a3k is up the creek now. it now freezes if i try and put it in rec mode. i have tried unplugging scci, checked termination etc. Has anyone else had similar problems or does anyone know anywhere in London i could take it to get it fixed/looked at?
thanks

Never had that problem with mine - internal SCSI drive. Sometimes it takes it's time and gives me heart failure 'cause I think the bastard's not gonna work, but then it kicks in and all is well. Have you opened 'er up and checked the memory sticks are seated properly and cables all attached firmly, etc.? If all looks cool, then yes, you need to call Yamaha or a service centre that deals with their gear.

took mine to a place in bristol to fix the fkng knobs. good service, very quick. guy even phoned me up while i was in the pub to say he'd just ordered the parts and it would be finished in three days. 'fuchin grrreat mate ... who are ya? ... oh yeah, s-s-s...ampler, nice one.'

i think its fixed, i took your advice and rung up yamaha. The scsi was causing the problem once i unhooked that and reset the machine it works ok.
