this is the first track i've produced that wasn't mine. it's most likely not your kinda music but i still would like to hear what you think.

in my opinion this isn't quit my kinda music, but i still can appreciat djT's vocal and piano skills. the only programing done were the drums, the rest played by djT.

so please enlighten me, i would love to have some feedback.

oh i was going to wait for a reply but i'll hit you with it now..

having done production for a number of people ver the last year, i wager you're probably questioning whether you should do it again. you probably.. liked making the guy happy, like to help, and there's the prospect of combined talents, profit.. (well plus it's always good to actually see someone else do something for a change..)

imho it's not bad, but isn't polished. the guy's freehand timing is fairly good, has a nice feel for harmonies, and has potential as a vocalist.. could be pleasant to listen to, but a bit self indulgent in addition to the confidence/proficiency thing.. or as a way of making up for.. imho of course.

unless you really believe this person has what it takes *and* the drive to make it happen regardless of your input, i really recommend some greater personal satisfaction for you. that spotlight belongs to you really (based on your tunes)

you mentioned your crappy kit recently.. if it's so crappy, anyone who cared enough would seek to similarly accoutre themselves.

the drums are nice. to me, the strongest part of djT's performance is the piano at the end.. that is solid and makes the relatively weak earlier pitched content more pleasant in memory.

giving you more than you asked for. this is about you, isn't it??

the only thing Id have to say is A)it sounds like its just some regurgitative stuff. 80s synthy stuff but with no new additions, and B)sorry but it sounds like a demo. not just cuz of the lofi. Ive heard lofi stuff that sounds quite tight (that sharki guy who never came back)...

its not "full sounding" like it could be. sounds off in the distance. oh..maybe that was the intention? if so then Ill shut up

thanks guys! i don't know if i really enjoyed producing it that much, it's kinda cool cuase you can learn from watching people work. but i felt like too much of an outsider, not much creativity involved in producing.

as far as it sounding "not full" i think he intends it to be that way, lil soft for me thou'. but thats what i mean about feeling like an outsider. i coudn't really control where it was going. the only input i really had was if we should do another take, i didn't want my influence to effect his song.

it took one night to make, and yes it could use some more polishing.

xoxos,imho? im a ho?

by the way thats exactly what i was thinkin if i shoud do it again.

and influx, i like hearing what you have to say to. thanks

linguistic point. if you're not controlling where something is going, if you're not exerting your influence, if you're an outsider whose only call is whether they need to do another take, what you're doing is not called producing. it's called engineering.

right on bro, thats what im doin then!
actually i gave some input, but no i didn't determin the direction of the song. i left that up to him. i would say if it sounded good or not, but no i wasn't the controller.

hehe. damballah I was gonna say that

well, if youre engineering, then try just bringin it up a bit. all the levels..so you get more SOUND in there. just sounds thin, like the overall level of the song is low.

I would also ad that unless you need money (and this guy is payin you) then what point is there in engineering OR producing someone elses stuff if you dont totally dig it?

by me doing this in return he'll do some work for me.

and for the thin sound, i have a master version that was sent through T racks. i uploaded the wrong one. i'll post a better mastered version later.

ho? ask me again after i finally reconcile my desire not to take part in this society of butchers with my desire to pay off my studio debts.. it's gonna take a LOT of blow jobs for sure..

funny how sometimes things come out and look entirely different that what was intended..
