what about adding a 'vote' ability to tracks like on other music sites which links to a chart for viewers vote music-tracks chart ?

if you did it'd be fair to have it as 'x' out of 'y' listens displayed so mrs. zap and trancelord303 don't sit at the top forever. negging the prime cuts scheme?

..if you're loonig for somethnig to do, i tried playing the .ra file on a gear review (for the mirage   and it loaded dancetech.com inside the frame where 'samplers' was.. so i had two big 'dancetech' headers on my screen.

ah yes, thats cos the audio file is missing - we set up the site so that anyone links to a missing page inside the domain it loads the site for bad linked pages out there on the www - i guess that file got lost when we changed server. Alot of the old demo audio files were lost forever cos the old server was removed when the old company i owrked for changed hands and that data was lost sadly - i didnt make that mirage demo & cant remember who did make it.

sorry xoxos - how dyou mean "'x' out of 'y' listens " ?

if we did it, then each track page would have a VOTE button and they would be totted up each time they were voted for - the chart would have a totaliser and stck 'em in order - what's the method you mean ??

Great idea! But make it able to add a small comment, so if someone decides to 0 a track they have to say why also.

er..... but that wont show on a chart will it... ok, so trancelord303 aint gonna vote for pay fine - it'll be just for readers to say if they think it's cool or not, i wasn't thinking of having like a marks out of 5 vote, just a choice to vote or not, and they get totalled and charted in order by number of votes.

it was me! me! i did it! not sure which track (biology? chunky techno) but i can set you up with a mirage demo for sure. anthologising a disc named 'mirage' now as a matter of fact.. needed a piccie of one for the cover = why i was there.

i mean like you know if someone's got 0 votes, is that 0 votes out of 0 listens or 0 votes out of 100 listens, gives a bit of insight as to how 'warranted' the score is. or maybe do it as an approval percentage.. let's do a pie graph!!

and.. you know? to be ridiculous.. it'd also be kinda interesting if there were two scores.. one rating by other people who make music, and one rating by infidels.. err.. fans or whatever.

Yeah, good idea!!! And, I understand where you're coming from xoxos, but the better way would be to have the average voted score with tracks that haven't been voted on not listed and, say a minimum number of votes to be listed on the charts... Oh yeah, K, is there enough music posted here regularly to have the charts split up by genre? That way if there is a majority fanship here for one or two genres the others wouldn't be constantly relegated to the bottom of the chart and users looking to download some music closer to their tastes can have things kinda sorted... Just some ideas for your idea, I'm sure you'll get plenty more...

can you explain why you say it is a better idea to have tracks that have less votes as a consequence of being not listened to not appear on the charts?

insofar as to wonder whether the purpose would be to hold a popularity contest or a method of stimulating listenership? personally, i suggest the latter as being a far more fertile arena. rrar. chaos will predominate make your time.

well i can see the system you mean now yes with listens & votes, but that'd require more coding & might be more clunky - let me think about it & see if it's reasonable feasable without making too much bullshit.

OK, xoxos, I see your point, maybe list tracks that haven't been voted on as "no votes" or "not voted on" although if there is minimum vote of say, 1, a listing of 0 would do that...

anyways it's done - you can vote itr doesnt show how many votes, just counts & ranks 'em in order or by date/time voted if equal - ok it's a bit of fun eh, but like if you search out a tune you like you might want to give it a nudge to make it visible to others to take a listen. - whatever - there it is.

I didnt get to test it with nutscrape anyone tell me what if it's ok?  

actualy there's a real good depth of material added in some styles if you just take a wander thru the tracks listening... mebbe we should cut back on some genre's and make that simpler ??
