Hey guys, I am looking into buying a VA Synth for about $1000-$1500 USD. I was wondering if you had any suggestions on what would be a good start. I am going to use it in song production and Incorporating into DJ Sets. I found some good deals on an OB-12 for about $1000, and a JP-8000 for like $1200.
Or do you think I should save some extra cash for A Virus Indigo? Is that a good sounding synth? It looks absolutely fantastic.
Any other recommendations for me? Thanks!

Mike

Kaoss pad for your Dj sets i say... it rocks. is that how much those synths cost in bucks!!! - bloody hell! - actualy i was messing with the OB12 the other day for 20 minutes in a shop whilst waiting for something or other.. and actualy I was impressed. bloody well made piece of hardware i'll say that! & heavily discounted it seems due to it not being trendy.

Actually, I think that they have/or are going to discontinue the OB-12. I got to play with an OB-12 too, I liked the Display it had more than the Nova II's. My brother has a Nova II, and I love it...but it's a little pricey.
So a Kaoss pad? Thanks, I'll look into one of those. Peace!

yes the display is very good, it is superior agreed to most VA synths - the whole synth just is solid & robust and is way way above it's current rrp value in terms of build quality. BUT, wether you'll get the sounds you want is another matter.

I just bought the OB-12, I couldnt wait, heheh...I got it for $810, which I think is pretty damned good. I'm looking for darker sounds, I think it can make some pretty phat sounds....next purchase...Korg Kaoss Pad =)
