Yo influx,
I understand your comments about making
those sounds from scratch. You deserve
props for that, of course.
But, I think (in my humble opinion - uh, blow
hard opinion, maybe?) that you are designing
sounds that you have been influenced by.
No problems with that, of course. That is how
we learn and grow! But, with that being said,
the sounds I was referring to sound familiar -
so if I was at a breaks club I wouldn't
necessarily be able to say "holy shit - that is
Influx's sound! Nobody sounds like that Cat!"
You see what I am saying? The sounds are
good, but not covering any new territory - so I
would imagine that would be a goal of yours,
possibly?
It was like when Ed Rush and Optical were
hittin' 5 years ago - I mean, you could
recognize their flavor! And if you were wrong
about a particular track, you could be sure that
the artist playing was *mimicing* their sound -
or paying homage. whichever.
So, I would get deeper into your synth
programming skills and draw up some real
sick blasto synth sounds that make the song
yours!
You obviously are kickin' it with some talent.
And my review is coming from not an artists
perspective per se, but the DJ in the shop
listeing to a track to see if I would buy it....
BTW, congrats on the listing in Tweakend. Any
publicity is good publicity. Too bad they didn't
list you by your handle...INFLUX Baby!
rob.
