RE: 2500? - or 2 x 2000
The K2500 has cleaner effects and outputs (though the outputs are still too noisy for a professional machine, in my opinion), expanded program memory, SCSI port standard, faster SCSI transfers, 8 drum channels vs. 1, and a better Operating System. (Not to mention the doubled polyphony and memory capacity). They've kept the K2500 OS up to date with new features and functions. If you want really good, flexible B3 sounds, the KB3 feature in the 2500 is the way to go.
I could never do without Livemode, though. It allows you to run an external audio signal (through the sampling input) through the V.A.S.T. architecture and effects, which can give some fucking wicked results. I use it all the time for pseudo-vinyl scratching that has fooled even the professionals. Just run a loop through it and screw with it! As far as I know, the K2000 can't do this.
The K2500 has dropped in price a lot lately, so you probably could find a used one for cheaper than two used K2000s. Just get the sampling option... Livemode is worth the extra $$$...
