Gentlemen. Let's make this the FS1R club shall we?

It's a well kept secret that the FS1R is a LEGEND!

And it seems that we are among the few that realise this.

well ... you know i've been looking for an sy99, because it seems superior to the fs1r in some respects. BUT the fs1r is an inspiring synth, to say the least.

In what respects do you think the SY is superior? Different, but certainly not superior I would say.

hey mike ... uhh maybe you wont see this response. sy99 ... room for samples (i don't have a sampler...), and user-definable algorithms. TRUE it is 6-op vs. 8-op AND no "formant" technology. BUT it is more capable in the sense that envelopes, feedback levels & operator levels can be edited with greater detail, and filters can effectively be doubled (fm routed through fm filters, then through sample filters) ... oh and envelope looping, which can be set at levels of high enough detail to cause an audible frequency "amplitude modulation" effects... this is all hyper-technical though, the sy99 is a well engineered work-horse, whereas the fs1r sounds great, but isn't the friendliest of interfaces...

since i'm looking for a pretty much all-fm sound, i'm considering the sy99 as a companion to the fs1r...the sy99 handling meat & potatoes FM tasks, and the fs1r delving into exotic tangents. we'll see.
