having recently reinstalled all of my software i can affirm that my system, though only a little over a year old, does not paly midi files.. it's got a mediaplayer interface, but i always get a 'couldn't read file type' or some sort of message. now i guess the thing that i need is microsoft media player, right? except i can no longer find it as such on the web, only as part of some larger, new program, whatever it is. balls to that.

so.. i guess here's what i need: there's a bunch of freeware midiplayers on the web.. the smaller ones don't seem to cut it, because i guess they don't come with drivers.. soo.. anyone got any recs on midi players? should i just get an old copy of cakewalk, in that it'll let me play standard midi files *and* see the info, *and* actually compose them? i use a h/w sequencer otherwise..   i hate f*cking up my system trying cheesy wares..
