I find that tonally funky basslines should stay fairly simple most of the time, unless you're using an actual bass then it tends to be fine a bit more complex. I'm not quite sure what you want though still. Do you wan't me to give you a jazz theory lesson or do you want me to give you a couple of basslines?

i am taking lessons in jazz piano at the moment though only for about 6 months,some one put me on to a book (at this site)before i started lessons.happy with the way my keyboarding skills are going,me bass lines stink i want some pointers to help(theory)

I'm looking for some Bass help too. I am just looking for a couple good jungle style basslines. I am trying to learn how to write new basslines.

Get a bass and listen to James Jamerson on Motown records,Charlie Mingus,Jaco Pastorius and Danny Thompson who has played bass for John Martyn,Richard Thompson and Bert Jansch among others you may not like these guys music but if you listen openly to them you will learn a lot about creating bass lines.
