does anyone know of any way to turn the MIDI-Out on the VF-1 into a Thru port, it seems any other MIDI device can do this, but if its there on the VF-1, its hidden pretty damn good... Thanks

i don't have a VF-1, but if it's like the se-70 (which is
like an earlier version, sort of...)

the midi out should say "midi out/thru". check the back
of the unit, if it just says "midi out" it probably doesn't
do thru. if it does...

on the se70, press "utility". on the se-70, you get a tuner.
keep pressing utility until you start getting midi stuff.
use the keys you use to move through parameters, and
you'll get different screens (left and right on the se-70),
one is midi out/thru, use the knob to change it.

hoping that it's similar....

Yes, its _EXACTLY_ like that, only one problem, no MIDI Thru/Out option :\. I originally thought there was probably no way to do it, but maybe they just hid it in there... who knows, if not, I can think of atleast one thing to add in an OS update...

personally, i don't use the thrus, so i don't see it as a big deal.
if you need a lot of thrus, just pick up a cheap patchbay...
sometimes you can pick up a 2x8 or 4x8 (2 or 4 inputs,
8 outputs) for $20-40, and the kmx8 (a really easy to use
8x8) is around $50 nowadays. lots of other advantages to
this too, especially if you've got more than a couple pieces
of gear and/or do a lot of sysex dumping...need a sysex
dump from the vf-1 to the PC? no need to repatch cables,
or mess with midi out/thru options....just hit a couple keys
on the patchbay and voila! patch vf1 to PC, do the send,
a couple more keys and your controller is reconnected, and
vf-1 disconnected. it's actually very nice.
