Unusual synth thing
Me again.
I'd like to draw your attention to one of the most unusual and coolest synthesizers I've seen. In fact it's by the same guy who did the Internet Synthesizer (another highly unusal thing).
Now it's very old (about 8 years), and has some shortcomings:
1) It's on the Amiga so you'll have to dig out your old Amiga or get UAE running on your PC or Mac.
2) It only produces 8-bit files.
3) It's not realtime due to the nature of the synthesis
4) The sounds are of limited length.
However, I'd suggest you give it a go. It's like a weird paint program. You have drawing tools and brushes and you paint into the box on the screen. The box represents time and frequency so basically, you are painting a frequency graph for the sound.
Some of the sounds you can get out of it are like nothing on earth. It's amazingly easy to use (but the scope is quite complex), and I can't believe that no-one has ever made a program similar to it. If anyone knows of one then please tell me.
