One of my friends recently purchased a DJM 2000 which has a midi out, allowing us to automatically sync my equipment to his turntables. The only problem we've run into is that between 0 and +6 the pitch of the record goes up a half step, and vice versa approaching -6. Has anyone run into this problem and if so, how do you combat it?

Thanx,
Psil

Go into your mater tunings and adjust them as appropriate for each record, or get an intelligent pitch transposing unit like an eventide, or better yet, get rid of the fucking DJ as the focus, and let the music be more of your own stuff, and if you want your dj to drop samples, let him/her drop samples to follow you. Why be constantly following the leads of records, man? Fuck that shit. Those gimmicked out DJ mixers are for dj's who want to get a little groove box to jam along to their record and can't ride the pitch controll well enough themselves to keep with the live stuff. You think Ritchie hawtin uses a sync box for his 909 when he plays it with records? Hell no. What if he wants to do something out of time or in a polyrythmic fashion with his box and records? He just matches it up by ear. It's all about the ear, not the gear. You'll figure it out.
