im going to purchase a behringer mixer. (theyre cheap)
i cannot decide between MX2004A and MX2642A. yes 2642 is better but is it worth another 100$ ?
what might be the advantages?
note that im a beginner.

for a start the 2642A has swept mid eq on the mono channels right? if so then that is better than a fixed point mid eq.

you get extra sub-groups on the 2004.... if you are doing ALOT of routing and sub-mixing parts to the pc or other destinations for recording and sampling etc, those 4 subs could come in handy, BUT... you do get an extra stereo sub-bus on the 2642 - all in all?... the 2004 should be ok if you are unsure about stuff... you can route the stereo master L/R to your master recorder like a dat, and still have a stereo sub-out (ALT 3-4 bus), to be hardwired to the pc L/R inputs for mixing selected channels to the pc for tracking & sampling... go for it

The Mx2004 Does have a swept mid too, on ll monochannels that is . It has two fixed mids on the 4 stereo pairs. For it's price it cannot be beaten (like pretty much any behringer mixer), very clean sound, versatile and it looks pretty too. It might not be as sturdy as a mackie but it sure is a whole lot more more bang for the buck.

Just a practical thing, If you're gonna use it in a rack, than the 2642 could be easier with wiring. (no wires on front) If you use it on table, you don't have the problem.
