I've just got hold of aCyrix 686/Pr200 processor, and I've heard it won't support audio software, or more to the point VST. I've also heard that it will!! Does anyone know the facts?

Hi!

Well, the fact is, that AMD and CYRIX CPU´s don´t support
the floatpoint arithmetic in the way, INTEL processors do.

Wave- and video- (graphics-) jobs can use this floatpoint
arithmetic unit of the CPU to process (calculate) these
files.

Thats the reason, why INTEL´s CPU´s are better for
audio-recording. You can use CYRIX CPU´s as well, but
there will be a lower performance compared to INTEL´s when
working with wave-files.

Ciao

Clemens
