When running FZDump from my pc I always get a
'cannot connect to MPU 330 port' message. I have followed the read-me with the set-up on the FZ1 but no joy. I'm sure it is a simple case of tweaking a windows setting, but which one. Would appreciate some help so-as I don't bugger any other settings.
ta.

Just a couple of clues:
Have you tried running any other software
on your PC that sends MIDI out via your sound card?
In any event, I think you need to check your PC's sound card setup.
SB16 (for example--just happens to
be what I have) has a configuration page-- it wants to "see" the
MPU 330 port unless the card itself's been fiddled with-- in
which case it needs to see the 300 port (I think).
I'm not sure that FZDump works with every sort of card.
I've got an old SB16 , I'm running Win3.11, and DOS,
and I can only send MIDI out-- I can't retrieve MIDI from my FZ.
Good luck!

I'm running through a Turtle Beach Tropez and the FZ1 is daisy-chained through three other instruments. When writing music everything works correctly (FZ1 being the master and providing some samples) It's just when using those FZ1 utilities to save to and from my PC that things refuse to work.
Even connecting PC midi out to FZ1 midi in, FZ1 midi out back to PC, no joy.
Boo! Hoo!

I am using FZ Dump with a SB AWE64 Gold, and it works fine for me (aside from it being painfully slow at transfers) Having the MIDI in's and outs connected between the two units is one of the main cuprits. Another is to be sure that you have placed the FZ device dump in MIDI receive mode before initiating the download. However, if you are getting a message saying that you can't access port 330 then something else may be assigned to it already and you'll have to do some reconfiguring of your other installed cards' port addresses.

Hi. Re "'cannot connect to MPU 330 port' message" - Windows is crap at allowing more than one device to access the midi ports at one time so if you are running any other midi packages whilst running FZ Dump the PC won't be happy - this has to do with not allowing multiple access to single drivers! So, first thing to try is to switch off any other midi programs you may be running such as Cubase, Notator Logic, that sort of thing then try again. An alternative (and a better one at that) is to run a program like MultiMID or Hubi's Midi Cable both avalable on the net. I'm not too sure about Hubi's midi cable cause I don't really use it but Multimid 'copies' the drivers allowing multiple access to devices. In your case you would have MPU 330 and multimid would generate Multi-MPU 330. This will allow you to use a midi sequencer and FZ Dump at the same time. Hope this is some help - if you need any more advise send me and email cause I spent a year ironing these sort of problems out!
