RE: audity
If you get the Audity, you're gonna want to spend another 150 USD to get the system upgrade with the Xtreme ROM -- all the waveforms from Orbit and Planet Phatt -- and it's gotta go to E-mu to do it. You may want to wait for the XTreme Lead, which is premiering cheaper (Guitar Center had them advertised for 649 USD for all of March but I dunno if they're in stock yet) and will accept Proteus ROMs (2 of them I believe) or ROMs that can be burned with an E4 Ultra. The onboard ROM on the Audity has quite a bit of the standard synth waveforms, but it's what you can do with 'em rhythmically that's the selling point of the unit. A square wave or a sine wave or whatever is gonna sound better coming out of the oscillator on a real analog. Some people knock E-mu's Proteus-ish modules as having a grainy sound -- a low-mid boost and a high-mid cut can smooth that out. Hope this helps you.
