yes, transwaves (as found in Fizmo and first introduced in the VFX) are like layered waves, built in segements... an excerpt from the Fizmo's User Guide says: "...special waves comprised of multiple sound recordings arranged one after another in "farmes." Transwaves can provide an exciting degree of animation, or liveness, to sounds. The recordings in a Transwave may be related to one another--witheach frame capturing a stage in the evolution of a single sound--or they may be related, resulting in a random-sounding wave that can be useful in providing a touch of the unexpected to a sound. You can use modulation to control which frames will be heard when you play a note, resualting in all manner of dynamic timbral changes."
