If anyone has been using this unit to create music, I would love to know if you are happy with it.
( it's ups and downs, durabitily for live performance, would you suggest another box? etc.)

Thank you

I've been using it to create jelly babies, and TV programs about recycled paper.

jen,
I've posted a couple times regarding some of my experience with the X-Pro and I'm pretty pleased with it. Don't fool yourself into thinking that one box is going to deliver on the be-all, end-all workstation concept - at least not in this price range - the X is not it. You are better off checking a number of sources for info on the X - and there is no sub for hands on time. The link above will take you to Onelist where you will find an Archive of the ASR-X Mailing list and info on how to subscribe. I recommend you join the list and observe for awhile - you will get a feel for the general vibe of the list and see all of the woes and cures first hand. It is a fairly active list. 2nd, check the user reviews at Synth Site and Harmony Central too. 3rd, check out the sampler articles on this site - they are about as too the point and on target as you will find online (thx, Kilo.) 4th, do a search on ASR-X on some of the threads here at DT after you read some of the sampling articles. It's a good box but there are other good boxes out there too: ESI4000 & A3000 come to mind. If you are on a budget: 2nd hand 'black' ASR-X, S2000, or ESI32. Good luck.
