Subject: point of multi-outs?

Just wondering on what exactly is the point on all those cards (gina, etc.) with all the multi outs, is that so you can add external effects(like a seperate reverb unit) to each different track you want, and send them to a mixer to reroute them back into the "in" on the card or to a different recording source?

Except from what you said, multi-outs can be used for recording each individual track on ADAT so you can edit & mix them from there...
