I may be a complete idiot, but having bought a Gina for VST, I can't stop it howling round, input to output, even during play. I know I can mute the record in Windows but isn't there another way ?

try muting the input slider on the Window mixer...I had the same problem...you should still be able to hear everything, it just prevents a loop...
