This may well be old news but I just found this page and it's worth a look.

All free downloads, but they also have commercial stuff for sale like 100Mb of drums for $40 (the Zip o' Drums).

Way cool! Thanks a lot. I was looking for some disks to pop into my newly aquired MPC 2000XL, and this seems like a real goldmine. Do you know more places, just tell me...! :-)
