Apparently, on the Brighton to London line, where the trains are 'NON-SMOKING', the commuters have taken over a carriage and smoke al lthe way from Brighton to London.

This has been going on for a couple of years, and apparently if the guards try to tell them to stop smoking they just get told to fuck off..

"frugal soup.." it's an arcology thing. but really.. take my word for it. you take away all the power, all the wires, all the cars and computers and gadgets, boys be having a good time!

you just need a couple of square miles of raw countryside to wander around and grow stuff in. take away that autonymity.. well.. i'm dead miserable living in a city.

but really, it's cafe culture mate sorry, it has life... not that sanitised world it has no soul, it's art is also vapid and commercialised tripe in most cases, it's whole cultural basis is to create some sort of squeeky clean artifice, with sanitised everything.. it's the price you pay.. you want people to be arrested for smoking within a certain distance of a building then you also get the rest of that sanitised thing too... it's THAT world, it all starts with something inconsequential and then the cultural revolution sorta thing comes down it seems.

seriously, no-one is going to argue about what you like in your own home, but the CONSEQUENCE of you bringing that child into the world should be that the world conforms to your wishes?... it's a false reality isnt it in some way then? - I mean, it's this whole rights in public places and you cant tell me that smoking in a park or coffee house or whatever, it's called culture mate... it's something humans have done for time, and i do say it's a more non working people thing, dont you?... would bar survive without it in a working area in the USA if it was like sanitised and no smoking and shit or is there a law about it all over?

I have to say, there is a distinct difference between a house owned by smokers and those not.. one smells like a toilet fresh...

I feel more european myself which has that whole crossover cultural thing which just doesnt fit with plastic wrapped sandwiches, shitty weak coffee and that whole sort of superclean vibe.

You cant imagine these same people who make a scene in a resterant or whatever making a scene when they walk into the local bar up a mountain in Tibet (where they are 'finding themselves') and there's like 20 old guys sitting around smoking rancid cheap cigarettes... THEN it's 'wonderfuly cultural' or some such thing

I had an idea for a script once. It's basically Jaws except when the guys in the boat are going after Jaws, they look around and there's an even bigger Jaws. The guys have to team up with Jaws to get Bigger Jaws.... I call it... Big Jaws!!!

Read my first post to this... I know I come off like I'm real nice and worked up... But honestly, I should stress "there shouldn't have to be a law"! I'm asking people to behave like civil hoo-mahns and not blow poison on my kids or on people who don't want it! That's all...

No way do i expect the world to conform to my values for my children! I understand personal responsibility... But that won't stop me from saying that people are behaving badly and that they should stop! That doesn't mean I expect people to have the same attitude, and I think loutish obnoxious people who complain and whine about these requests to stop smoking around people who don't want to smoke are just that, loutish and obnoxious...

I think it goes too far to suggest that they should be fined or arrested. We cannot legislate good manners, and common respect. And we shouldn't try... But wouldn't be real decent and fine if people just showed a little courtesy and differed to the needs and wishes of those who mislike their invasive behaviour? On a strictly personal level mind you?

It's funny to watch these conversations develop. They allways seem to follow the same path. Why is that? Because we are all humans. Opinionated and lost! Humans are humans. The new-fangled concept of humanity (kindness, decency, blah, blah) is a load of shit! We are animals who have mistakingly wandered into a world of work, slavery and bizarre automated tasks.

In other words. We be fucked and all the whinging in the world aint gonna make any difference.

no. i've seen the future. lived in it. humans, like all animals, also possess the ability to refine, make observations and choices.

one of the biggest shock to me in life is that most western children seem to enjoy hurting things.. shooting doves, smashing flies et al. i was never like that.. i understand/remember that i always had a profound respect for living creatures, ie. ailing fly on the windowsill, i'd keep putting him on his feet.

you will NEVER convince me otherwise that *my* wonderful instinct isn't absolutely natural and "your" stupid instinct isn't ingrained by television.

the end, full stop, you see.

now. link. every day, in every way, i think 'future.'

if the lifestyle there isn't frugal enough, there's a thingy at arco called 'frugal soup,' where leftover bread and soup makes the meal. all the workers, idealists, big name field specialists on site all sit in a circle and eat this "unremarkable" fare while trading stories starting off with, well, frugal sort of stuff. healthy exercise, bloody filling.

anyway, you don't need much. really. you'll excuse me for attempting to disseminate this info. i like trees and rocks and shit, and my body doesn't seem to benefit from being roboty.

Why do you continue to push forward with your life when you've this notion that we're f*cked animals that don't have any business acting like decent little creatures? That's not an attack, I'm genuinely curious as to how it's possible for someone to feel that way and not eat his children/family! Do you connect with other humans for the simple safety in numbers? Do you use these forums to simply improve your personal opinion of yourself? Again it's not an accusation, but I can't see any other motivation for living among others with an attitude like that.
