well, due to another thread i tried it tonight... BLOODY HELL!... There's a mate who's a 'pro' (the one working with Zimmerman) and he swears by it...

anyways, you gotta try it!... wavelab is good, but this i think is worht seriously looking at as an option to getting a cracking eq & valve comp & limiter plugins such as waves etc for use when mastering... the valve sound is awesome!... tracks really pump with it like in a club... I ran that track '20 quid to get in' thru it and the difference when you add/remove the process is frankly, staggering!... All that time and i never tried it, it's amazing!

it wont do your other editing chores, but man, the price for this compared to getting a clutch of serious plugs to use in a host is really competitive... they got a pro-tools rtas plugin version too!... you can get your track as hot as hell with this, it'll leap out of the speakers!

K, would one use something like T-Racks proccessing in replacement of Normalising in Soundforge, or would you do both?

i think the t-racks manual says you should give it a wav that's about -3db or something. it suggests you don't feed it a normalised wav anyway.

and K, checked. It's still the same in 4. You use "batch convert",but it only works if all files have the same number of channels and the same sample rate.

yeah i'd use T-Racks sure!!... the sound is phenomenal - you can get something like it in Wavelab or SForge with plugs, but I never saw it so easy to get a sound as with T-Racks, and the 'valve modelling' really works... you just gotta try it, it's so intuitive.. I really wish that comp in the T-Rack was available as a plugin cos it rocks!

bare in mind T-Racks is available as an RTAS pro-tools plugin, who'd bother to do that if they thought it was sub-standard, cos think about what OTHER stuff get's to pro-tools, only top stuff... - and think about the price!!... compare that to the cost of seperates!.. you cant beat it... I'm sold on it since trying it!... all that adding plugins in a stack and hopping from one to the other to change settings etc... with T-Racks, it's all in one. Also, I know it doesn't or shouldn't make any difference, but the look, the design of the interface is visualy so pleasing.

But T-racks doesn't do multi-band if you need it. Unless they have added it since I used it. I also may have been trying to master a bad mix, it was a while back that I used it.

guess what I found out today!... T-RACKS is soon to be available as a standard PC/Mac plugin without RTAS hosting!!!

yeehaw!... AND, you'll be able to split off the components if you like to utilise as seperate units!!!.... so valve EQ & Valve limting & compression will be also available within your music sesssions in your favourite sequencer... my God!... imagine that valve compression on your bass or drum parts... phew!!!

So Wavelab and T-Racks...hummmmmmmmmm!

Is the valve compression that good? Did you run just a mono bass loop through it?
