I bought my first computer about 5 1/2 years ago....a laptop with Win95. I always liked the startup sound for Win95. Win98 was a letdown in that category as was XP. I found my laptop, put the Win95 startup wav on a floppy and put it into Windows\Media but the sound quality was sooooo 5 years ago. I opened it in Sonar and used some Reaktor filters and reverb to enhance it a bit. You wouldn't know the difference unless you heard the old next to the enhanced.

Question...can this one make it into the 'I need a life' guiness book of world records?

Thanks in advance for all of your opinions on the matter.

there's more cd's in this box than i thought, i'll try to get through them today. i just saw the driver disc when i was cleaning a few weeks ago, though, so i know its there.

its just a matter of not getting swallowed up by the monsters in my closet amongst the rubble.

was that a dangling participle?

I just have one question....

Does your mother sew??

BOOM!!!!

Tell her to sew that!

Let me know if anyone needs it in a different sample type for whatever reason.
it does have a hell of a nice crack and rumble to it.

Wasn't the win95 startup sound by Brian Eno? I remember I goofed around with it in Soundforge and then replaced the original so I would hear it every time I turned my puter on...   :p

lol, yes remember i totally adored "The Microsoft Sound". I also added a pseudo-stereo effect to "enhance" it a bit. ;-) I don't remember exactly but i think the original was 22,5 khz Mono.
Yeah Brian Eno composed that start-up sound. And guess what? He did it on a Mac.
