Analog Synths

Okay, anyone following the "Hardware Compressors" topic in the "Mixing & FX" forum knows I'm considering an analog synth. I'm seriously considering the Microcon II, and I'm ready to make a call, and Pongoid jumps in with a recommendation for the Dave Smith Evolver (http://www.davesmithinstruments.com/), which looks pretty cool. Read a couple of reviews and it looks pretty powerful. Problem is it doesn't look like a particularly user friendly synth. Jumping through menus is kind of a pain in the ass, and one of the reasons why I am considering analog. And this Dave Smith deal is not ENTIRELY analog (read the design portion at the website and you'll see what I mean).
Has anyone used either one of the synths, and what are your thoughts on them? Is the interface of the Evolver as difficult as it looks?
