Yamaha comes out with the 4k and 5k series for a lot less then akai s5000...not but a few weeks later akai drops the price on the s5000 and s6000. Consumer 1, high prices 0.

I've got the same question as ellipsis. The Emus and Yamahas have always interested me from a sample-based synthesis point of view, but the S2000 just fucking rocks for hard drums.

well gents I won't get into emu vs akai (imho, sound very close) but I certainly will say that the yammies are brighter vs akai and I am an akai owner. Simply take you fav' ref cd to the shoppe and record 10 secs in each sampler and see.

I just have a nice chubbie for the new yammies...so many features for the money, it must be making akai marketing directors see red.
