http://www.smproaudio.com/mpatch.htm

only thing is its missing a fcking headphone output. SUCKS

I remember milan was griping about nobody making something like this. Now theres the Samson C-Control, Mackie Big Knob, and this one...plus some high end from Coleman and CraneSong I believe

I was so stoked on this M-Patch until I realized no fcking headphone out put. thats lame

the ONLY thing I dont like about the C-Control is the lack of a MONO summing function

the Big Knob has it...

Id prefer passive circuitry where possible. Obviously headphones are gonna need an amp.

Im probably gonna go with the C-Control simply based on the ridiculously low cost.

If only that other one had a damn headphone out. bastards

tis true, would be simple wouldnt it?

but then...headphone amp? multiple speaker outputs? mono summing? (would that need an amp?)

science project time, eh?

*clears throat*

my C-Control just arrived, and YES it does have a mono summing function... its a switch on the front labeled MONO and works as expected.

first impressions are very good. its a sturdy little half-rack box made of aluminium and feels nice and quite solid to the touch. all connections are attached directly to the casing, so nothing wobbles when attaching/detaching cables. even the RCA plugs are nice and big and stick out far enough from the casing for even the most demanding rca cable you'd care to connect to them :P

so at least physicaly, it feels like at least twice the money i paid for it.

headphone amp sounds much better to me than on my old yamaha promix, with better definition and stereo imaging (coming from my Edirol FA101) and is loud enough to blow your head off, quite literaly.

will comment on the monitor outs a bit later when i get the chance to turn it up nice and proper... i just read it sounds crap compared to a "digital output of a TASCAM CD player into a Lucid 9624 DAC using short star-quad cables with gold connectors to a pair of Dynaudio BM15A monitors with a BX30 subwoofer" but that isnt saying much is it? :P

i can however say that i turned it all the way up with no music playing and while i did detect noise it was nothing that would bother you at normal listening levels. it was certainly lower than the noise of my (relatively) quiet-ish pc and only audible when i pressed my ears very close the speaker.

to be continued...

dunno if i am, but if you want a proper review i'm down... just gotta do few more tests plus i noticed a slight level mismatch at the bottom of the very bottom of the volume knob's range (left channel becomes audible first, then the right one joins when you turn the knob further, but thats all in the first 2mm of the range). i might just ask them for another one, if it wont take too long to ship that is :/
