You had to be tough to survive the street scene in this part of London. Brixton, Streatham and

Stockwell all had different cultures, you had to conform, follow the rules.

For Mark and his Mum in Brixton it was hard; Dad had walked out when he was three; and his

Mum struggled hard to give Mark an upbringing that she herself had received., Church on

Sundays and how to cook traditional food and speak the Jamaican tongue. Mark, though, was

angry, he didn’t want to comply.

Steve hadn't lived in the area long, enough time though to know how to survive, the kind of

music to play, where to hang out, pull girls. He lived with his auntie and uncle as his dad, and

mum had split up when he was three and didn’t know where his dad was.
