Brainbox Studio is in a large part a collaboration between myself and a collection of other musicians i have come to know over the past ten years. While i have been recording in one form or another since 1980, Brainbox has only existed since 1999. The majority of my own material is midi related in one way or another and my general approach to composition usually involves using the studio as the “instrument”. The studio itself is a desktop affair using 2 macs, a G5 1.8 dual processor running Cubase SX and the original brainbox, an older G3 beige desktop work horse running Cubase 5. I have included an equipment list at the bottom of the page for all the tech heads such as myself who are interested in such things. My solo work is fairly ecclectic which will explain its different incarnations. Fraktal is at this point the slightly more serious side of what i do, while Household Spastic Orchestra or H.S.O for short is a project devoted to all the material decidedly less “serious.”
Collaboration with other like minded experimental musicians, technicians, and artists is what the thrust of the label is about. Other artists interested in posting their music on this site should contact me with details.

The art content of the website features photoshop works, flash animations, paintings, quicktime movies and other mixed media created by label members and works submitted by other artists. Anyone with found art, especially lost and found polaroids, please make them available. I am particularly interested in working with experimental filmakers on soundtracks and game music.
