Da Joker   -   details

I was always good at Music in school as I went to piano lessons at a young age.I started listening to Electro age 12, loved the sounds, the patterns, but especially the drums. I started to buy hip hop records when I was 14, then in 1988 I was bought a Yamaha Pss 780 synth (This Pss has been used live since) which I used to play all the time, trying to make tunes like the ones I was into. I then got into Acid House music aged 15 and started buying House tunes, then went to a few early Acid house parties in NW London. I Started to DJ in a Pub in Edgware in early 1990, it was a meeting point for raves I had about 10 new dance records which were given to me by Roy The Roach , After a few months I had a box full so a few friends and my self started to put on our own parties in houses/flats. I passed my driving test, which changed things for me, I got a job as a DJ in a pub in Staines for a months but fell out with the landlord over a few things (he said music sounded all the same). I Started going to The Park night club in Kensington and things changed again The Bee by The Scientist (Known as PURE SCIENCE now) was a massive tune at the time and I never knew for about 2 months that i knew the artist who had written it. I started to DJ in the Dome in Tufnell Park on Fridays and Sundays in 91, played at a few Spiral tribe parties then a DJ on Touch Down Fm. I met up with The Scientist again and he said I should get a sampler so i bought a Cheetah SX16 (all I could afford) with its massive half a meg memory could load about 10 samples (22.050hz) at one time, and an Atari 1040 ST. I connected my Yamaha Pss (which had become redundant) to the SX16 through the ST via Cubase V1. That was it I was making the best tunes anyone had ever heard …ha ha ha joke, got a bit of criticism about how crap my tunes sounded so I carried on as a DJ. I started to go to his studio every night and realised that I didn´t wanna DJ anymore¸ by 94 I wanted to produce instead. Life being life with its up´s and downs it has taken me long time to get my act together but i have now got a small setup¸ found a good sequencer/sampling program¸ got my style and now have plenty of tunes ready for release!!
