i'm a bass player really. at least that's how my band history began, playing gigs proper and doing little tours up and down england. i got into music through going on a government funded course, to train as a sound engineer.this skiving tactic resulted in meeting one or two people who were involved in bands. they got me involved despite myself. i started on keyboards (not very good) then moved onto rhythm guitar (pretty good) and ended up on bass (seemed my best place).all the time our band was busy getting nowhere, i made tunes to amuse myself. if i liked the idea, i recorded it, using variously a 4 track cassette recorder and a keyboard or two, notably a korg M1 and some dinky bontempi crap.the band expired. i continued to tinker with music.i like to spend time on the stereo soundspace in a recording, also making sure anything that's there is meant to be, and can be heard at a level i find comfortable in an overall mix. i like to perfect the sound on medium volume through good headphones (a result of late nights recording and having neighbours). then i listen through speakers, just good quality home hifi speakers, for a final mix. i apply effects as and when they suit, to a lesser or greater degree. that's it.peace. :~)
