I'm basically a beat driven composer. I tend to create with ideas much like a painter would with a palette. The mood I'm in that day or an idea I've had or thrown around could spark an entire piece. It could be a phrase. Single, solitary words can also be so powerful. That's why I tend to name my songs with just a word. A lot of times after I finish laying that first track a word will come which will connect everything that's going on. I tend to write on the fly; I'm moody. I'll live with a piece for a while and let it brew. I'll play with emotions. And when I'm hot I'll record a song almost every day for a season. I'm always beatboxing to myself, studying and thinking about rhythm; just breaking it down. Unlike other composers, I don't sit down and grab the guitar and write out songs. Now I love to play and I do write riffs- I have quite a huge collection. I just save them for the right time... the right rhythm... the right word to bring them to life.
