Shreddie is the collective moniker used by Sheffield based electronic musicians Scratch_Eddie and The Shrimpernel. Unlike most of their contemporaries, who gladly buy into the capitalist agenda of competition (in which personal wealth is ammassed through the crushing of other people, who are seen as rivals), Shreddie prefer to adopt a spirit of collaboration akin to the mentality of medieval folk before the industrial revolution. We are all in it together in this world and life is hard for all of us, so why don't we all help each other? This is why you will never see the words "scratch_Eddie vs the Shrimpernel" on a poster... they aren't fighting, they're working together to create something special.
Working primarily in the field of Clubstep music (a kind of variation on Dubstep that makes one want to get up on the dancefloor and party, rather than to shoot up and zone out!) the Shreddie duo also draw on their love of minimal electronic music, speed garage, old-school rave, jungle, gabba-tekno and anything else from the underground that is hard, hectic and heavy!
From their oddball production work to their scintillating live shows, Shreddie inject a much needed dose of irregularity into the dance music scene and prove that DJs needn't be simple organic jukeboxes.
